The Best Toddler Travel Beds

The Best Toddler Travel Beds

How on earth do parents who travel with kids find enough things to bring? You need at least two outfits, a toy or game for when they get bored of their own toys and snacks. But what about after you land – there’s so much more that goes into packing!

When you arrive at your destination, it’s essential that the pet has a comfortable place to sleep. This will ensure their mood stays high and lets them enjoy themselves even more! Getting a good night’s sleep, or even an afternoon nap, isn’t always easy to do outside of the comfort of their own space at home, but the best toddler travel bed can help.

Travel toddler beds come in many different forms and shapes. You can opt for a basic cot, or an inflatable or foam bed with bumpers to help contain especially active sleepers. The best part of having a travel bed that you can bring with you on family vacations is that it saves you from having to share a bed with a squirmy, kicking, toddler all night.

Babybjörn travel cot light

It’s super lightweight (6kg, which includes the durable carry bag) and a total doddle to put up. The legs click out, and then you just link on the bottom of the mesh and pop the mattress in. Because the legs fold out at an angle, it feels very sturdy once up and the sides come high enough so that it’d be a real challenge for any escape artists to breach the perimeter.

The airy mesh allows for air flow through, reducing sweaty naps even in warmer climates. We liked the size of this travel cot too – it isn’t vast, meaning it fits in snug hotel rooms, yet is big enough.

Little Life arc 2 travel cot

This is a fantastic solution for all kids who still need a cot, but particularly those that are at that charming age of climbing out of their cot (deep sigh). The arc 2 comes with two poles, a mesh cot, comfy mattress and mattress cover, plus pegs. This all comes in a lightweight backpack that’s about the size of a large change bag.

The cot goes together easily like a standard tent. You can then zip down the side for access, or the roof. This solves several issues as it works well for outdoor naps in the garden or beach (you can buy a sunshade separately), but also as a standard travel cot.

Bugaboo stardust travel cot

This travel cot pops up in seconds – just pull the ends apart and it clicks into place. We appreciated that the mattress folds with the cot, so there’s no stuffing it in the bag and it getting battered. The sides are totally mesh, giving excellent views of your peaceful sleeping baby from all angles. Even the most adept climbers would struggle in this cot as the sides are pretty high. It includes a bassinet inlay for newborns, raising newborns higher up so you can tend to them more easily.

It also looks smart, which is not something you can say about every travel cot. Even the bag is plush. It’s the perfect travel buddy for a jet-set family.

The best house plants

The best house plants

Whether your home is large or small, there are some plants that will make it feel like an oasis. Indoor greenery provides a sense of peace and serenity for those who walk through the door each day to work hard alongside their families—and they’re not just any kind! There’s something special about choosing from such vast options: big indoor trees can provide shade during hot summer days while allowing enough sunlight into homes; smaller room-growing species fill corners with life without taking up too much space on limited roofs/floor spaces (succulents!).

Best Low Maintenance Plants

Peace lilies are a great plant for beginners because they’re so easy to care. You only need once every week or two weeks of watering, but if you forget – don’t worry! The leaves will wilt dramatically (to let us know) then perk right back up again after being waterlogged again with fresh nutrients from our soil mix
A common misconception about these beautiful flowers is that their natural habitat involves high moisture levels such as rainforests due in part by how similar this particular herbaceous vine looks compared sidebyside across taxonomic groups which makes them seem more robust.

Multi-Colored Plants

The Marble Queen Pothos is one of the easiest houseplants to grow, with heart shaped leaves and growing vines that will quickly fill your plant shelf. This low maintenance species requires less watering than other plants but thrives in weak light environments making it great for beginners or people who are bad about taking care their home’s interior design needs!

Best Low-Light Indoor Plants

The Zamioculcas zamiifolia, better known as the ZZ plant, is another reliable house plant option for beginners. It can withstand all sorts of less-than-ideal factors, like infrequent watering or dry air. And, most importantly for apartment dwellers or those who live in other shady spaces, the ZZ plant can easily tolerate low-light environments. Attractive as a standalone plant or grouped with other plants, the ZZ plant is a happy option for the kitchen or bathroom.

Best Indoor Plant For Small Spaces

Snake plants are great for people who have small spaces because they grow straight up. This makes them perfect in places like kitchens or bathrooms where you don’t want a lot of plant life taking over your living area, yet still need some fresh air! It’s also said that these cheerful little guys can purify indoor air – so if odors aren’t appealing while cooking then give one of these cute houseplants.

A Cute Little Plant With Colourful Blooms

African violets are a great plant for those who enjoy the beauty of flowers. With their small size, these plants can be easily stored and don’t take up too much space on your shelf! To keep them happy you should only give them enough water to cover about halfway or so with dry soil – no more than that will cause rot in stems/leaves if overwatered (and believe me I know from experience). It’s best not overdo things either; just make sure yours stays healthy by letting him/her drink at least twice daily until established before adding liquid feeds like fertiliser tablets etc.

Paint trends 2022 – influential colours to choose

Paint trends 2022 – influential colours to choose

The colours we select for our homes are more than just decoration. The paint job acts as the backdrop to everyday life, and it can have an emotional impact on how you feel in your personal sanctuary which is key for making a house feel like home.

Calming Greens

Grey is the new green? We’ve seen it everywhere in interiors recently. It’s often associated with nature and calming qualities, which could explain why so many people are drawn to using greys for their homes’ design aesthetic these days – but if you can’t let go of your grey investments just yet there’ll always be a color palette worth loving!

Crown have identified a trend called ‘Liminal’ which features a colour palette of chalky aqua shades that are an ode to the natural world. The use of subtle chalky tones and soft grey blues help to create the perfect gentle background to build a furnishing scheme on top of.

Bright skies inside

The uplifting light blue of this shade offers a much-needed breath of fresh air to our homes, delivering an invigorating effect even in the cooler undertones. Reminiscent at first glance to clear skies filled with promise and optimism for what’s ahead as we emerge from last year’s darkness – these gentle blues remind us that looking up can help chase away any negative thoughts or feelings before they start taking root inside you!

In the living room, consider using Bright Skies in places you would love more natural light. In small or narrow spaces it will make them feel more spacious, and blue aids concentration so it’s also one to consider for a home office.

Colour Drenching

Colour drenching is a key interior trend this spring. To colour drench a room is to take one colour and use tones and shades of it across many surfaces. Think walls, bedding, furniture, accessories – even the ceiling is fair game!

Warming reds tones

When times are tough, we often crave warmer tones. It’s the sound of an angelic choir in your ears and comfort on every inch of skin – it feels like home again! This year however I’m steering clear for some colder colors with rich saturated hues that will help ground me while still feeling luxurious at night time or during day spa breaks when all you want is peaceable mind knowing these wonderful pieces await ahead…

Interior trends that can help you get a good night’s sleep

Interior trends that can help you get a good night’s sleep

Interior design is an essential part of your home that impacts how you feel, which in turn affects sleep quality. Interior changes can be made to improve both physical and mental well-being by influencing emotions with their visuals or scents; these tweaks will affect different people differently but there are some general tips for making sure they work out positively!

With the most popular interior-related sleep and wellbeing trends in mind, we’ve outlined a few ways you can improve your mood while also contributing to an calming home environment. This will help create perfect surroundings for sleeping purposes!

Minimalism

Minimalist interior design has become popular in the past decade. This kind of space is often void or neutral colors with sparse furnishings to create an atmosphere that’s chilly and lacks warmth because there are no distractions from natural light coming through windows, artwork on walls etcetera; but this doesn’t mean you have spend your time designing something dull! To avoid feeling cold indoors try adding touches like colorful accessories ( pictures , throws) for added personality.

Crucial to any minimalist home is an uncluttered space, which means having a good declutter is essential if you’re dreaming of a calming, streamlined environment – and this is especially important in the bedroom, helping you switch off after a stressful day.

Calming Colours

The colour of your walls can tell a story. They might be the perfect background for all those graduation photos or family memories, but they also have an influence in what you’re feeling at any given moment – don’t underestimate them!

For a bedroom scheme, green and blues work well. Soft blues have long been a popular choice to aid sleep and relaxation, while green is a colour of balance and harmony – sage green in particular is incredibly calming and refreshing, reflecting the beauty of nature. If you prefer moody, dark shades, try deep blues or berry tones for a luxurious, cocooning feel.

Indoor Gardens & Bedroom Plants

Houseplants are not only great for adding color and life to your space, but they can also be used as an anti-stress tool. With all that’s going on in the world today with pollution or tension building up at work – house plants may just provide you some relief by lowering their effect on our mental states!

Home Sanctuary & Meditation Space

With the meditation hashtag having over 47 million views on TikTok, many of us are turning to meditation to increase self awareness, control negative emotions, and bring us back to the present.

It’s important to find a spot in your home where you feel most comfortable and are away from distractions. Consider the lighting, as it will help create bright atmosphere before bedtime relaxation time!

Tips for choosing the best adjustable bed

Tips for choosing the best adjustable bed

  1. Know your needs
  2. Consider the size of the bed
  3. Compare prices and features
  4. Read reviews
  5. Ask questions before you buy
  6. Make sure you have enough space for it

The adjustable bed has become the most popular option for those looking to create their perfect sleeping environment. Mattress retailers offer this type of frame, with many electronic features that allow you control over your mattress settings from anywhere in the world!

Benefits

Elevating the head may have a positive effect on health conditions such as acid reflux and sleep apnea.

A 2012 study found that participants who slept with an elevated pillow saw reduction in symptoms of both heartburn or discomfort from eating meals while lying down, improved quality scores for calmness during rest periods between midnight until 8am when compared against those without any extra height added onto their mattress
The research was published by Trusted Source magazine which discusses latest findings across multiple fields within medicine.

This study shows that sleeping on an incline can be beneficial for those who suffer from sleep apnea. The researchers noted no discomfort when using the pillow and noticed a reduction in symptoms severity, which is great news!

What to look for in an adjustable bed

Before choosing an adjustable bed frame, a person may wish to consider:

  • the cost
  • the product’s quality and materials
  • whether or not their current mattress is compatible with an adjustable bed or if a new one will be necessary
  • independent reviews of the product and the retailer or manufacturer
  • the functionality and number of adjustment positions it offers
  • the product warranty or guarantee period
  • the delivery options
  • the recycling options

Getting to know the terminology

There are some words and phrases relating to adjustable beds that a person may not yet be familiar with. The list below will look at some of the most common.

  • Wall-hugging: This refers to the position of the mattress in relation to the wall. During and after transitions, the technology ensures that there is no gap between the mattress and the wall, regardless of mattress position.
  • Zero gravity: This refers to the fact that a particular position of the bed, or the point of transition from one position to another, may mimic the feeling of weightlessness.
  • Ergonomic design: This means that the manufacturers have tailor-made the product to support the human form.
  • Whisper-quiet: This means that the mechanisms for the various frame functions are no louder than a person whispering.

What makes a four-poster bed so luxurious?

What makes a four-poster bed so luxurious?

The size– A four-poster bed is usually bigger than a standard size bed in the UK, but this is often why people are so attracted to them. They have a grand feel about them, which can make the people sleeping in them feel like royalty.

Timeless Design – This type of bed has been around since the 16th century, and there is a reason they have stood the test of time… they have a classic design. This type of bed comes in an array of classic and elegant shapes and designs. You can even get four-poster beds that come with hand-crafted and engraved markings, like ones you would find back in the day.

Traditional style – Even if you opt for a more modern four-poster bed, the four posts that come with the bed mean it’s kept its traditional vibe, as this concept for the bed hasn’t changed since its first release.

Setting the mood – With opulently draped curtains and grand pillars, four-poster beds could be seen as quite romantic and could make the perfect place for you and your partner to get some shut-eye.

High VS Low Beds

High VS Low Beds

What is the Ideal Bed Height?

For most, bed height isn’t really a consideration. However, there is a science to comfort. Generally, the optimum height should reflect your own, i.e. taller people have higher beds and shorter people have lower beds.

What is the Ideal Bed Height for the Elderly?

As we age, we become less nimble and a bed should be at a comfortable height to make getting in and out as easy and stress-free as possible. A very low bed may put strain on joints and muscles, and a high bed may require jumping up which isn’t always possible.

Using the above idea of matching a bed with your own height, measure a comfortable sitting level – maybe using a favourite chair. This will make sitting and swinging legs in and out of bed much more comfortable.

The average knee height of an adult is between 16” and 24” off the ground, meaning a bed within this range should be perfect. If in doubt, opt for a bed that is around the top of this range, as a high bed will have less impact on your joints than a low one, and a step could be used.

Can You Increase the Height of a Bed?

If your bed is too low, we would recommend replacing it. However, if you cannot afford to do that right now, risers placed under the legs of the frame can offer a temporary fix. Please do be careful using these though, as they will compromise the bed’s stability.

What is the Ideal Bed Height for a Toddler?

All of our children’s beds will have dedicated product info about their dimensions and their age suitability. However, generally, toddlers’ beds are low to the ground to avoid any dramatic falls or rolls out of bed as they get used to no longer sleeping in a cot.

Of course, bigger kids, who are used to sleeping in a bed, have many more options at varying heights, including mid-sleepers, cabin beds and bunks which all involve a ladder.

Are There Other Height Considerations?

Before purchasing a bed, we would always recommend thinking about where it will be located. For example, if you will be placing it in an attic room or space with an apex ceiling, make sure that there is enough head room and space for the headboard.

Otherwise, you may have to reconfigure the room. We have seen some people placing the bed 10 to 15cm from the wall in order to make their bed fit, because they did not make these considerations before buying. Others have simply spun the bed round so the footend is up against the wall, and headboard is in the middle of the room.

It is also worth thinking about your storage options. Ottoman and divan beds are often higher than regular frames, so they have plenty of storage space. If you’re low on available floor space, these higher beds may be a good solution.

How to make your bedroom eco-friendly

How to make your bedroom eco-friendly

How to make your bedroom eco-friendly

Ready to get started on saving the planet and upgrading your bedroom style? Here’s our pick of the best tips for designing an eco-friendly bedroom!

1. Choose a gorgeous yet durable wooden bed

Beautiful, built to last and eco-friendly, the benefits of wooden beds are endless when it comes to eco-style design.

2. Use organic paints

Unlike normal gloss or emulsion paints that contain solvents and other harmful chemicals, you can purchase organic paints that are totally free of all pesticides, herbicides & toxins. VOC paints (and flooring for that matter) are very harmful for the environment, so make sure you opt for anti-VOC paints or low VOC paints at the very minimum. As well as paints there are also varnishes, primers and even wallpaper that are eco-friendly, too!

3. Make sure mattress is a plastic-free zone

Whilst you’re working toward styling your eco-friendly bedroom, don’t forget about your mattress. Many mattresses out on the market today actually contain PV or flame retardants that are a form of plastic. Not only are these harmful for the environment, but they are harmful for you too and can have negative implications on your health.

Instead, invest in a good quality mattress that has natural material components for the benefit of both you and the planet. Look out for materials such as wool, cotton, hemp and bamboo that are all-natural but still incredibly comfortable and supportive.

4. Opt for natural bedding

Using natural bedding made from organic cotton or bamboo is another way to be healthier and greener. These fabrics don’t contain any pesticides and 100% unbleached duvets, mattress protectors and pillows are becoming far more common these days and are found in any bedding store worth its salt! Yes, organic bedding is slightly more expensive, but they are a fantastic investment as they’re warm, soft, durable and sustainable. Be sure to stay away from any bedding that contains teflon, formaldehyde or flame resistance as these all defeat the aim of achieving a more green and eco-style design.

5. Go eco-friendly with your furniture

Eco-friendly bedroom furniture has been on the rise in recent years as the design world has searched for ways to become more sustainable. As a result, there’s a lot of eco-style furniture to get your hands on that doesn’t take up too much space and uses all-natural materials!
