Affordable Candles for Your Home

Affordable Candles for Your Home

Marks & Spencer

This candle contains an expensive-smelling mix of geranium, cedarwood, eucalyptus and lavender for serious spa vibes.

Zara

When you find out that Zara collaborated with the legendary Jo Malone to create its own range of candles, you know they’re going to be good. This sweet-yet-musky patchouli one is in my house year-round.

& Other Stories

Cheap candles never look as good as when they come from & Other Stories. This particular scent smells like heaven. It’s rose-like but is laced with notes of vanilla, almond, green apple and tonka bean to leave you in a delicate but heady daze.

Paddywax

It’s not often you find a cheap candle in a jar that you’d actually want to reuse, but Paddywax has delivered with this cool hand-drawn one. Plus, it smells good.

The White Company

The White Company is a brilliant place to shop for affordable candles, with these little ones offering around 33 hours of burn time. This is very much a summer candle with creamy coconut, buttery vanilla, zingy bergamot and juicy orange to fill the room with balmy warmth.

Aldi

I’ll make no bones about it: These Aldi candles are a direct dupe for Jo Malone’s. This one is a nod to the brand’s iconic Pomegranate Noir scent.

The best house plants

The best house plants

Whether your home is large or small, there are some plants that will make it feel like an oasis. Indoor greenery provides a sense of peace and serenity for those who walk through the door each day to work hard alongside their families—and they’re not just any kind! There’s something special about choosing from such vast options: big indoor trees can provide shade during hot summer days while allowing enough sunlight into homes; smaller room-growing species fill corners with life without taking up too much space on limited roofs/floor spaces (succulents!).

Best Low Maintenance Plants

Peace lilies are a great plant for beginners because they’re so easy to care. You only need once every week or two weeks of watering, but if you forget – don’t worry! The leaves will wilt dramatically (to let us know) then perk right back up again after being waterlogged again with fresh nutrients from our soil mix
A common misconception about these beautiful flowers is that their natural habitat involves high moisture levels such as rainforests due in part by how similar this particular herbaceous vine looks compared sidebyside across taxonomic groups which makes them seem more robust.

Multi-Colored Plants

The Marble Queen Pothos is one of the easiest houseplants to grow, with heart shaped leaves and growing vines that will quickly fill your plant shelf. This low maintenance species requires less watering than other plants but thrives in weak light environments making it great for beginners or people who are bad about taking care their home’s interior design needs!

Best Low-Light Indoor Plants

The Zamioculcas zamiifolia, better known as the ZZ plant, is another reliable house plant option for beginners. It can withstand all sorts of less-than-ideal factors, like infrequent watering or dry air. And, most importantly for apartment dwellers or those who live in other shady spaces, the ZZ plant can easily tolerate low-light environments. Attractive as a standalone plant or grouped with other plants, the ZZ plant is a happy option for the kitchen or bathroom.

Best Indoor Plant For Small Spaces

Snake plants are great for people who have small spaces because they grow straight up. This makes them perfect in places like kitchens or bathrooms where you don’t want a lot of plant life taking over your living area, yet still need some fresh air! It’s also said that these cheerful little guys can purify indoor air – so if odors aren’t appealing while cooking then give one of these cute houseplants.

A Cute Little Plant With Colourful Blooms

African violets are a great plant for those who enjoy the beauty of flowers. With their small size, these plants can be easily stored and don’t take up too much space on your shelf! To keep them happy you should only give them enough water to cover about halfway or so with dry soil – no more than that will cause rot in stems/leaves if overwatered (and believe me I know from experience). It’s best not overdo things either; just make sure yours stays healthy by letting him/her drink at least twice daily until established before adding liquid feeds like fertiliser tablets etc.

Interior trends that can help you get a good night’s sleep

Interior trends that can help you get a good night’s sleep

Interior design is an essential part of your home that impacts how you feel, which in turn affects sleep quality. Interior changes can be made to improve both physical and mental well-being by influencing emotions with their visuals or scents; these tweaks will affect different people differently but there are some general tips for making sure they work out positively!

With the most popular interior-related sleep and wellbeing trends in mind, we’ve outlined a few ways you can improve your mood while also contributing to an calming home environment. This will help create perfect surroundings for sleeping purposes!

Minimalism

Minimalist interior design has become popular in the past decade. This kind of space is often void or neutral colors with sparse furnishings to create an atmosphere that’s chilly and lacks warmth because there are no distractions from natural light coming through windows, artwork on walls etcetera; but this doesn’t mean you have spend your time designing something dull! To avoid feeling cold indoors try adding touches like colorful accessories ( pictures , throws) for added personality.

Crucial to any minimalist home is an uncluttered space, which means having a good declutter is essential if you’re dreaming of a calming, streamlined environment – and this is especially important in the bedroom, helping you switch off after a stressful day.

Calming Colours

The colour of your walls can tell a story. They might be the perfect background for all those graduation photos or family memories, but they also have an influence in what you’re feeling at any given moment – don’t underestimate them!

For a bedroom scheme, green and blues work well. Soft blues have long been a popular choice to aid sleep and relaxation, while green is a colour of balance and harmony – sage green in particular is incredibly calming and refreshing, reflecting the beauty of nature. If you prefer moody, dark shades, try deep blues or berry tones for a luxurious, cocooning feel.

Indoor Gardens & Bedroom Plants

Houseplants are not only great for adding color and life to your space, but they can also be used as an anti-stress tool. With all that’s going on in the world today with pollution or tension building up at work – house plants may just provide you some relief by lowering their effect on our mental states!

Home Sanctuary & Meditation Space

With the meditation hashtag having over 47 million views on TikTok, many of us are turning to meditation to increase self awareness, control negative emotions, and bring us back to the present.

It’s important to find a spot in your home where you feel most comfortable and are away from distractions. Consider the lighting, as it will help create bright atmosphere before bedtime relaxation time!

How to make your bedroom eco-friendly

How to make your bedroom eco-friendly

How to make your bedroom eco-friendly

Ready to get started on saving the planet and upgrading your bedroom style? Here’s our pick of the best tips for designing an eco-friendly bedroom!

1. Choose a gorgeous yet durable wooden bed

Beautiful, built to last and eco-friendly, the benefits of wooden beds are endless when it comes to eco-style design.

2. Use organic paints

Unlike normal gloss or emulsion paints that contain solvents and other harmful chemicals, you can purchase organic paints that are totally free of all pesticides, herbicides & toxins. VOC paints (and flooring for that matter) are very harmful for the environment, so make sure you opt for anti-VOC paints or low VOC paints at the very minimum. As well as paints there are also varnishes, primers and even wallpaper that are eco-friendly, too!

3. Make sure mattress is a plastic-free zone

Whilst you’re working toward styling your eco-friendly bedroom, don’t forget about your mattress. Many mattresses out on the market today actually contain PV or flame retardants that are a form of plastic. Not only are these harmful for the environment, but they are harmful for you too and can have negative implications on your health.

Instead, invest in a good quality mattress that has natural material components for the benefit of both you and the planet. Look out for materials such as wool, cotton, hemp and bamboo that are all-natural but still incredibly comfortable and supportive.

4. Opt for natural bedding

Using natural bedding made from organic cotton or bamboo is another way to be healthier and greener. These fabrics don’t contain any pesticides and 100% unbleached duvets, mattress protectors and pillows are becoming far more common these days and are found in any bedding store worth its salt! Yes, organic bedding is slightly more expensive, but they are a fantastic investment as they’re warm, soft, durable and sustainable. Be sure to stay away from any bedding that contains teflon, formaldehyde or flame resistance as these all defeat the aim of achieving a more green and eco-style design.

5. Go eco-friendly with your furniture

Eco-friendly bedroom furniture has been on the rise in recent years as the design world has searched for ways to become more sustainable. As a result, there’s a lot of eco-style furniture to get your hands on that doesn’t take up too much space and uses all-natural materials!

Tips for Designing an Eco-Friendly Bedroom

Benefits of an Eco-Friendly Bedroom

So, where do you start on your new sustainable style quest? In the bedroom of course! But before you begin, it’s important to understand the benefits of an eco-friendly bedroom so you can fully appreciate your efforts beyond just the visual aesthetic.

It’s energy efficient

We’ve all heard about carbon footprints and greenhouse gas emissions, but there’s a lot more you can do beyond buying energy efficient light bulbs. Eco-style design places focus on how we can better measure our energy output by making smart choices with materials, lighting and heating. For example, think about how insulating your carpet is, your curtains and drapes – do they effectively control the temperature in your room?

It helps you reduce waste

Rather than championing plastics and fast fabrics, eco-friendly design is all about recycling, upcycling and calling upon nature’s resources to furnish your space. Can you reuse something rather than discarding it? Would that old dining room chair look fabulous in the corner of your room with a lick of paint and a fancy cushion?

It’s durable

In the spirit of waste reduction, this type of interior design can be extremely durable and your natural material furniture will last a lifetime if you care for it correctly. Opt for quality over quantity, functionality over seasonal trends and invest in sturdy natural statement pieces – you’ll soon find that you’ll be replacing items much less, saving yourself money and the environment in the process!
